Under the supervision of the Communications and Knowledge Management Associate, the Intern will be responsible for assisting the Community of Practice with member liaison, research, documentation, and assistance to generate and maintain knowledge products.

SR Curio’s Exchange System is a service provided by SR Curio (SR Curio Investments) in the South East Asia region to connect people who work in development, particularly socially driven for profit enterprises, via email, so that they can help each other to address day-to-day challenges in their work. The pIntern will support the Communications and Knowledge Management Associate to moderate the discussions, do research and fact checking, and most importantly, to network across the field developing links and relationships between practitioners.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the Communications and Knowledge Management Associate in managing the our partners, clients, stakeholders mail-group:

Conducts desk research, mainly through web and document searches and networking, to enhance the depth of the response to a member’s queries;Follows up with Community members to obtain material.

Drafts material posted on community mail-groups and websites under the guidance of the Associate (e-discussion summaries, updates, newsletters etc).

Provides our community with operational support:

Assists in the organization of community events and initiatives;Updates the website with documents and links;Indexes content under the appropriate keywords and categories;Maintains member lists, performance indicators and reporting information.

Contributes to work addressing cutting edge issues of concern to the community, under the guidance of the Communications and Knowledge Management Associate:

Participates in assignments and events in a supporting role;Drafts minutes and reports of events.

The Intern will play a key role in the development and maintenance of social media and promotional opportunities to raise awareness of, and membership to,  our services and business units.

Participates in the collective activities and collaborative initiatives:

Promotes team-building;Contributes to systems development;Ensures conformity and compatibility with agreed system norms and guidelines;Shares information on Community initiatives.


Demonstrates commitment to SR Curio’s mission, vision and values;Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;Good knowledge of the key concerns and challenges facing development and climate change practitioners in the Pacific;Highly effective at securing relevant information through desk research, and in applying web search tools and conventions;Motivated, energetic, thorough and responsive to the needs and interests of peers;Good drafting and analytical skills (the Communications and Knowledge Management Associate will assist with drafting);Able to communicate clearly through email;Computer literate with a working knowledge of social media and a willingness to learn new applications.

Required Skills and Experience


Currently enrolled in a degree programme as a full-time student in related climate science areas (including marine science and other related topics), development studies, communications or another specialization relevant to our core business activities;Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible;Available to work for a period of 3-6 months. Applicants available for a minimum of 3 months and up to 6 months are preferred;Available to work for at least 2 days a week and 4 hours a day for local applicants;Applicants must state their availability. Some flexibility will be allowed in the starting date and days worked per week.


Proven ability to research and write climate change, development, or other related research reports for a wide range of audiences;Experience carrying out desk research and experience in using information technology tools for research will be well regarded;Other work experience in non-related fields that demonstrate skills in client service and networking will be well regarded.

Language Requirements:

Language requirements: Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Timeframes and Resources:

The intern will be expected to support the Innovation and Creative Intelligence Lab in implementing the project. He/she will be granted access to:

the SR Curio internal workspace and archive of resources and research material;the UNDP subscriptions of scholarly journals and databases;the SR Curio internal e-communications and internet facilities.

Financial Arrangements:

SR Curio does not pay for internships. The costs associated with the internship must be borne by the intern or his/her nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students. The intern will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel, accommodation etc.

Further Career Opportunities: The purpose of internships is not to lead to further employment with SR Curio but to complement an intern’s studies. However, a number of interns, having completed their studies and met the necessary requirements, have gone on to further assignments with SR Curio.

SR Curio accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship. As interns are not covered under any insurance, including MAIP, they should not travel to hazardous locations in the course of their internship with SR Curio. Successful applicants for internship must show proof of valid medical and life/accident insurance for the duty station for which they will work. It must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship which:requires transportation to the Home Country or Country of Residence for further treatment; orresults in death and requires preparation and return of the remains to the Home Country, or Country of Residence.Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please make sure you have provided all requested materials. The selection process will consist of interviews and a written test.

Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview must submit prior the interview the following documents:

Official letter from the University confirming enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme (and graduation date);Letter of endorsement from a senior faculty member who has directly supervised the student in the recent past and who is fully acquainted with the student’s performance;Copy of school transcript;A brief statement setting out the reasons why he/she is seeking an internship with SR Curio and what is expected from the experience;Before being offered an internship position, the selected candidate will have to provide the following additional documents.A Medical Certificate of Good Health from a recognized physician. If the intern is expected to travel outside the country of their residence, other than to Europe and North America, the physician must indicate whether he/she is fit to travel and has had the required inoculations for the country or countries to which the intern is to travel.The successful candidate will be advised of his/her selection within 2 weeks of being interviewed.
